Case Study

SUPPLY CHAIN SUSTAINABILITY SCHOOL

ABOUT THE CASE STUDY

As a company, our biggest sustainability challenges revolve around aligning staff understanding with our sustainability goals, managing a range of client expectations across projects, and addressing the increased workload stemming from accreditations like BREEAM and WELL impacting design and installation processes. Ensuring that our staff comprehensively grasp sustainability principles and practices requires ongoing education and training initiatives.

Managing varying client expectations regarding sustainability criteria adds complexity to project planning and execution.

Moreover, the increased need for clients and customers to adhere to accreditation standards like BREEAM and WELL, significantly impacts workload allocation for design and installation teams.

Balancing these factors while striving for sustainable outcomes remains a continuous challenge requiring careful coordination and adaptation within our organisation.

Impact/Value

For MCS, the assessments section of the School has been instrumental in providing us with valuable insights into our standing compared to other M&E companies and across all users of the school platform. By completing these assessments, we gain a clear understanding of our strengths and areas for improvement in sustainability practices. This benchmarking allows us to identify where we excel and where we may need to focus our efforts to enhance our sustainability performance.

The individual learning pathways offered by the school provide tailored support in areas where we need it most. By analysing the results of our assessments, we can identify specific areas where additional training or resources are needed. The learning pathways then guide us towards relevant educational materials and training modules, ensuring that our learning and development efforts are targeted and effective.

Overall, the assessments and individual learning pathways provided by the Supply Chain Sustainability School empower us to make informed decisions about our learning and development initiatives (one of our challenging areas). By leveraging these resources, we can ensure that our efforts are aligned with our sustainability goals and that we continue to progress towards a more sustainable future as a business
