ABOUT THE CASE STUDY
Hannah Moore Primary School in Bristol reached out to Burgess Salmon with a goal to improve the staff room environment. Acknowledging the significance of collaboration and community engagement, both the school and Burgess Salmon sought the assistance of multiple partners, including MCS, PLP Electrical, and Overbury.
Objectives
- Enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the staff room.
- Create a welcoming and comfortable space for teachers and staff.
- Foster community engagement and social impact through collaboration.
As a key partner in this project, MCS played a pivotal role in the renovation process with our contributions including:
- Lighting Upgrade: Alongside PLP Electrical, we installed 14 warm white LED panel ceiling lamps to improve illumination and create a more inviting atmosphere in the staff room.
- Radiator Relocation: We facilitated the relocation of a radiator to accommodate the placement of kitchen appliances, thereby optimising space.
- Electrical Socket Realignment: We relocated electrical sockets to the external kitchen wall, ensuring convenient access for the use of whitegoods appliances.
The challenge
While the project progressed smoothly overall, challenges were encountered along the way, including logistical constraints and project coordination. However, effective communication and collaboration enabled us to overcome these challenges and stay on track to achieve our objectives.
Outcomes
- Improved Environment: The renovation efforts resulted in a significantly improved environment within the staff room, providing teachers and staff with a comfortable and functional space to relax and collaborate.
- Community Engagement: The project served as a key opportunity for community engagement, bringing together various stakeholders to work towards a common goal of enhancing the school environment and fostering social impact.
- Positive Feedback: Feedback from teachers, staff, and school administration has been positive, with many expressing appreciation for the transformation of the staff room and its positive impact on morale and well-being.
